White HOT!

Fire extinguisher from Home Depot called Home Hero. It's better than those ugly red one right! So I wanted one and I went to my local Home Depot and I couldn't find this model. Maybe it's selling like "Hot" cake! Or maybe they had a "Fire Sale". I'm a sucker for puns!! If you have more bring them on!!! ( I mean puns..that is ) ; )

I Love Pinhole Photography

When you take pinhole shots; usually the camera is made with a plain box with just a hole in it or a mini " Camera Obscure", and the picture projects inside the box all around, it's a perfect forum for a panoramic. If you check out her site you can see these pics bigger.

So anyone who knows me knows that I love photography. Especially anything dreamy and painterly. So what better way to have this type of photographs but through pin hole photography! Since film cameras are soooo cheap now, I'm definitely going to start experimenting with pin hole pictures. Yee Haw Posters

These are frame vignettes sold on Yee Haw Industries site. I'm thinking of framing my family photos in these. I have some old black and white photos of family and relatives in there Chong-sam (the Chinese traditional dress) and their Ham-bok (Korean tradition dress) so it may look cool in a euro/asian kind of way.

I love typography and posters. Especially anything that looks like Russian Constructivist and DADAist posters. Of course the real Russian Constructivist posters are REALLY expensive but these are cheaper alternatives that looks just as nice.

Neon Hip Geisha

Hey! Movie Monday! So I thought I would start recommending movies with either great Asian themed production design or something interesting and Eurasian. I know I posted a movie last Friday but I thought, " Hey! there no rules here!? ", so I'm going to start having Movie Monday. So look forward to production clips and even possible trailers!

Sakuran is not the typical Geisha movie. It's the Anti-"Memoirs of a Geisha" and more like a Geisha twist on Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette". The Lead actress Anna Tsuchiya is half Japanese and Russian/American. She is the rebel ass-kicking Geisha. It's fun to watch and the music feel punk next to these images. Directed by Ninagawa Mika, she is also known for her Photography and her style.

Lust,Caution

So before the holidays started my friend E ask me to go watch "Lust,Caution". I have to say this movie is sexually very explicit, but the acting was superb, especially by Tang Wei, the female lead and Tony Leung. I especially enjoyed the costume and the hair styling of the women in this movie. The interior was ok but the way that the women dressed was what I enjoyed the most outside the plot of the movie.

A little bio on the original writer Eileen Chang. by Ripple Effect.

“Lust, Caution” is a short story written by Eileen Chang (Zhang Ailing), a writer born 1920 in Shanghai. Chang attended the University of Hong Kong from 1939 to 1941, majoring in Literature. As the Japanese invasion advanced to Hong Kong, Chang had to cut short her education there and return to the then Japanese occupied Shanghai in 1942, where she began her vigorous writing career. In a few short years she had gained popularity as a novelist, short story writer and essayist. Eileen Chang had been compared to Eudora Welty and Katherine Mansfield, and was considered one of the few eligible contemporary Chinese writers as a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature.


The women in this movie reminds me of those 1920's Chinese Advertisements. This type of image is used on alot of things, like this from Bunny Max Well called "Liu".

So my new obsession is...

Floor pillows. and not just any floor pillows. I want them to have really thick welting and covered in antique grain sacks, but soft ones with writings on them. I want them to be about 30 in x 30 in foam covered in down and some how zipper on the bottom so if I need to wash them I can. providing that the welting can be washed. I'm going to talk to my friend Dassy who is a master of figuring these thing out and I will have 2 made.

I found something similar but not the right size. Plus I think they are made in bulk by Vintage Weave, because they have other things made out of the same fabric with the same writing printed on it.

LAZY AFTERNOON CHEZ LISEN is a site I was introduce via Desire to Inspire. Just thought it was nice how they used the chinese altar table and Foo dog. Another Swedish site I can't read. Hmmmm I guess I'll have to learn another language. Cool site!
