Chinosierie 004

Osborne & Little has the most beautiful wallpaper! Their Fall 2007 collection is beautiful. The first wallpaper is called Lovelace from the Stanza Collection a gorgeous painterly pattern of flowers and foliage on a matte and metallic background. The second is also a Stanza Collection but called Herrick a chinoiserie lattice with shadows and highlight giving it a raised relief look. The English seems to have a refined sense of taste when it comes to chinoiserie wallpaper. I'm going to try to check out the their main office in London when I go this Christmas.

Chinosierie 003

Here is some sample of ideas of a modern interpretation Chinoiserie. It's from Romo Fabrics. There are other paper pattern I've seen in Domino Magazine. Like the bright Yellow wallpaper with white lotus blossoms. I thought the first pattern reminded me of a very common pattern in Japaneses house coats. The chrysanthemum pattern reminds me of something Korean. Their traditional artwork on pottery and scroll painting has the chrysanthemum which symbolize good health and well being .
